Episode Poll
Looks like we have a tie for the episode to watch and discuss Thursday night. Since it was a tie and several folks voted for the other 8 episodes, we wanted to repoll the group with just the two episodes that tied for first place. Please vote again if you plan on attending the Thursday episode panel.

Vidding Contest
I know there's some vidders or some closet vidders out there who are attending KazCon. Don't forget that we need entries for our vidding contest. Did I mention prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places? :-)
Entry Procedures: A maximum of three vids may be submitted per producer.
Eligibility: All songvids have to be "new" and cannot be previously posted or available to the fandom. Slash or wincest vids are not eligible for the vid contest. Sorry!
Voting: Ballots will be available Friday night. Fans may list their favorite three songvids in both categories. Three points will be awarded for each first place vote, two points for second, and one point for third. In case of a tie for first place in any category, the video receiving the most first place votes will win.
Timeframe: All entries must be submitted no later than July 18, 2009.
For more information visit the vidding page.

Contest: Lawrence-based fanfiction for KAZCON 2009
Are you dying to share a unique angle on the boys' origins? Think that
Sam should have been with Dean back in 1970's Lawrence? Wonder what
might have happened if Mary had known who Dean was when she made that
promise? Tell us about it. Seriously--tell us!
If you are attending Kazcon 2009 and you write fanfiction--or have ever
considered writing fanfiction--you are eligible to enter the Fanfiction
Contest. Entries are limited to *2,500 words* and must be a missing
scene or tag from the episode /In the Beginning/. The entry must also be
*related to* or *mention *Lawrence, KS, 'cause, that's where we'll be,
ya'll!
Submit your wpd, doc, txt, or rtf via the link provided here:
http://www.kazcon.us/fanfiction.html no later than *Saturday, July
18th*. All entries will be posted on the KazCon website and will be
password protected. The password will be provided to registered
attendees when the stories are posted online.
We'll include ballots in the registration packets; you can list your
favorite three fics. Three points will be awarded for each first place
vote, two points for second, and one point for third. All entries will
be published in zine format and proceeds from zine sales will either
support the costs of the convention, or be donated to the Kazcon charity.
We'll announce the winner(s) at the Theme Party on Saturday night. The
winner(s) will get a trib copy of the zine; all other writers may
request a trib copy. The winning entries will remain housed on the
Kazcon website, however, after the convention, you can post your entry
or submit to another zine whenever you like.
Send us your stories, tell us how you see it, share your inspiration and
entertain us!

Panels Updated
The panels have been updated to reflect the ending of S4 and requests from our members to add certain panels. We have also listed the current panelists after each panel description. (If you do not see your name and you have requested a panel, we did not receive it. Please resubmit.) For those who listed three or more panels, we restrict each member to two panels; however, if we are short panelists as the con draws nearer, we will add your name to any additional panels you have expressed an interest in hosting. If you would like to host a panel or if you'd like to change to a different panel, please contact us. There are still several spots open and we will take up to three panelists on any given panel.

Kim Manners Momento
KazCon attendees will get the opportunity to sign this lovely momento in memory of Kim Manners. The item will also include a group photo taken at the con and a copy of the check made out to the charity. I hope to hand deliver this item to the guys during the Vancouver convention at the end of August. Thanks to Lori for putting it together for us; to Terry for helping with the photo manips; and to Vanessa for the lovely poem. It started out as a simple greeting card type thing and morphed into a mini-scrapbook type thing:

KazCon Story Auction
The KazCon 2009 committee is excited to announce the return of...
The KazCon Story Auction!
The KazCon committee is in need of your help! We are holding an 'Author Auction' to raise money for the National Lung Cancer Partnership. The donation will be made in honor of Kim Manners. What is an Author Auction, you ask?
Pretty much what it sounds like! You would enter yourself and the type of story you'd be willing to write (for example, gen or slash, AU, episode-related, etc) and we will auction you off to the KazCon attendees. After that, it will be up to you to correspond with the winning bidder and determine a deadline- if any- and where the story will be posted, etc. In essence, you are offering a promise that you will write a story for someone else. These auctions are so much fun, and it's for a great cause. Authors do NOT have to attend KazCon to be in the auction. (Bidders will have to attend, however).
So if you're in need of a plot bunny or you just want to help our tribute to Mr. Manners, respond with your pen name and the types of stories you do and do not want to write. For example:
Name: Black_Wingedbird
Email: black_wingedbird@yahoo.com
Website: www.black-wingedbird.com
I love to write stand-alone oneshots with lots of Sammy whumpage and Big Brother!Dean. I'll write crossovers but I have to be familiar with the characters. Story turnaround is usually less than three months. Will not write: Wincest, deathfics, or abusive!John stories
Story Specs: I will write a 5000 word story in the next three months, based on the winning bidder's ideas. The story will be posted to my website and fanfiction.net and dedicated to the winner.
Don't want to write but have a plot bunny? The game works both ways.
You can offer to pay a set number of authors a certain amount of money in order for them to write a story to your specifications. For example:
"Dana Norris will pay $20 for every author (up to 5) who will write a story (minimum five pages, no max) in SPN fandom that does/has the following: Set in Season one before the season finale. Uses one of Sam's fears against him (ex: being afraid of clowns), Dean's protective, etc. NO SLASH, NO SHIP (or Het, or whatever SPN fandom calls it )"
Know of someone who might be interested? Pass the word!
Questions? Comments? Want to participate? Send an email to black_wingedbird@yahoo.com

Schedule Change
We have combined the Show and Tell and Supernatural Games parties into the same event on Friday night so that we could add a MBV/F13 double feature to the schedule Thursday night.
The poll for you guys to vote on the episode to dissect Thursday night will be posted in the next week or two. The committee is still trying to narrow down the number of episodes to something reasonable. ;-)

Group Photo
We've added a group photo to the Saturday schedule. The group photo will be included in a special momento for Kim Manners that we will be sent to the set of the show after the charity auction.

Charity Auction
Just a reminder that a big part of KazCon is our charity auction. We want to raise a nice sum of money for the National Lung Cancer Partnership in honor of Kim Manners. The show has already donated a few items for our auction, mostly merchandise. I'm getting the run around on trying to get signed items like last time, but I'm still working on it. In the meantime, it's going to be up to us fans to donate items to raise as much money as we can for such a worthy cause. If you would like to donate something you already own, something you've made, or something you can make on request (fanfic, vid or an artwork), please do so. If you think others might be interested in an item you have, it doesn't have to be SN related.
You don't have to attend the convention to donate something to the auction. If you know writers, vidders or artists who you think might be interested, please contact them and see if they would like to donate something. They can contact us at the kazcon addy: kazcon@wildmail.com or at the following LJ link: http://kazcon.livejournal.com/16468.html

Charity Auction Chosen
Originally, we were going to hold a poll to pick the charity for this year's KazCon. But due to the recent death of Kim Manners, the KazCon committee has picked the National Lung Cancer Partnership as this year's charity. The donation will be made in honor of Kim Manners. Check out the Charity Auction page for more details.
