Fanfiction is the backbone of fandom. In appreciation of this tradition, there will be an official KazCon Supernatural fanfic contest.
Who May Enter: All writers who are entering the contest must at least be a supporting member of KazCon 2009.
Fanfiction Format: Entries must be submitted in one of the following formats: wpd, doc, txt, or rtf.
Eligibility: All fanfiction has to be new and cannot be previously posted or available to the fandom. Slash or wincest fics are not eligible for the contest. All entries must be a missing scene or tag from the episode 'In The Beginning' and be related to or mention Lawrence, Kansas. Entries may not exceed 2500 words.
Entry Procedures: Only one fic may be submitted per writer. Entries must be emailed to the committee by July 18, 2009, and they must include the following information: fanfic title, writer name, and email address. All entries will be posted on the KazCon website and will be password protected. The password will be given to registered attendees prior to the convention so that they can read the entries.
Voting: Ballots will be available in the registration packets. Fans may list their favorite three fics. Three points will be awarded for each first place vote, two points for second, and one point for third. In case of a tie for first place in any category, the fanfic receiving the most first place votes will win.
Rights: The KazCon committee reserves the right to publish a KazCon zine before or immediately after the convention that will contain all the contest entries. Trib copies will be made available upon request by individual writers. All proceeds from the zine would either support the costs of the convention or be donated to charity. The winning entries will remain housed on the KazCon website. However after the convention, all entries may be posted to other websites or submitted to other zines.
